Insert predictable gag about loving girls here

Went to a free in-store by Girls this week. A free gig…in a tiny little record shop…and it was on Tuesday….which might just serve to change my ranking of Tuesday as my most hated day.

I know it’s a cliche, but they rock. Their sound is really beautiful and refined, and much more mellow than their marketers would have you believe. They have ‘next big thing’ written all over them, but not in a MGMT/ snoringly predictable indie guitar band way…promise. Despite the fact that they were all wearing slightly different variants of a checked shirt. They are a band made of musicians rather than competing egos and images.

They were charmingly humble and nervous, and they seem that way in interviews as well. Self effacing has to be one of my favourite qualities in a band.

The hype isn’t lying with these boys/ girls.
